Lev Landau is considered one of the greatest physicists of the 20th century. Books by Landau and his student and collaborator Evgeny Lifshitz are a must-read in physics education around the world, and there are quite a few terms in physics that bear the name of the great Landau. However, this article is about something almost trivial: a mathematical game he enjoyed playing.
