# Mathematics applied to dressmaking

Dressmaking can raise interesting questions in both geometry and topology. My own involvement began in Bangkok, where I once bought a dress-length of some rather beautiful Thai silk. Unfortunately when I got home all the dress-makers claimed it wasn't long enough to make a dress. It became clear that I either had to abandon the project or make the thing myself.
